A stylized photograph of a desert landscape colored blue, black, and white. On the desert landscape, the sun is shining down brightly, causing a sun flare. The Thoughty logo of three infinity symbols in a triangle and the word "Thoughty" below is in the top left, the text "Games and supplements by Beau Jágr Sheldon" in the bottom left, and the link to briebeau.com in the bottom right. Superimposed onto the image is some kind of faded text, repeated in multiple directions, but it is so pale it cannot be clearly read, and this appears intentional.

Who is Beau?

Beau Jágr Sheldon (they/he) is a disabled, queer, genderfluid nonbinary masculine person who works in design & education. They are a tabletop roleplaying game designer, writer, and leadership educator. They design mechanics, write flavor and instruction, and do layout and logo work. Their photography is artistic and captures emotion. They help take your passions for your work and help you translate them into a mission, values, codes of ethics, and a brand identity.

Thoughty helps them support the games community, discuss theory and design, and release games to their patrons through Ko-Fi and the Thoughty Discord. They continue their work at Leading with Class, where they use their graduate education to teach leadership through games.  They’re well known for their content, consent, and safety toolbox Script Change.

Testimonials

I’m a full-on convert to Beau’s Script Change. It’s like: hold on, back up, stop, do overs, let’s skip ahead, say that again – solid communication tools I find intuitive to use.

Vincent Baker, Lumpley Games, Apocalypse World

Beau has great insight and perspective on tabletop games & rpgs. Their interviews, articles, and games make me think, and always make me feel.

Adrian Thoen, Impulse Drive

Beau is one of the pillars of our community – from their work as a designer to the work they do on their website and other projects, they have silently and often without the fanfare they deserve dedicated themselves to propping up this community and industry, elevating their fellow designers and creators every single day. When a new designer comes to me and asks who they should talk to to help get their game out there, I point them right to Beau.

Sandy Pug Games, Mirror
