If any information regarding your name, pronouns, information, or product is inaccurate, please contact me through the contact form as soon as you are able and comfortable and include the updated information and the link to the page(s) in question.
Note: my pronouns are they/he, I use masculine identifiers (Mr., sir, dude, etc.), and I go by Beau.
I take off on Mondays for mental and physical wellbeing. Responses will catch up on Tuesdays for any queries!
Interviews
Thoughty focuses on interviews that center the individual creator and promoting marginalized voices, and recently changed the format of our interviews. I do not do reviews, but will interview about projects in any stage of the project where you can produce project images and enough discussion for 6-8 conversational questions with answers approximating at least one paragraph, typically fewer than three.
Thoughty is no longer accepting regular requests for interviews, but may occasionally perform interviews if I find something particularly interesting to interview about or a good cause to promote.
All Thoughty interviews are conducted via email unless I request a different format. I can refuse an interview for any reason including my Policy on Perpetrators of Harm.
All opinions stated in interviews are the opinions of the interviewees and do not directly reflect my opinions. Minimal editing for typos is done for interviews and adjustments are limited to maintain the voice of the creators. All video and audio editing is done for clarity and comfort, with no intention of altering the creator’s statements.
Guest Posts
If you’d like to write a guest post on approachable theory or another subject, respond in the contact form with your
- name,
- pronouns,
- short professional/personal bio,
- brief topic description (<100 words),
- type of guest post
- approachable theory,
- actual play,
- community/social justice, or
- personal experience,
- estimated word count (minimum 400 words, no greater than 1000 words),
- website (if applicable), and
- where you heard about Thoughty (optional).
If you’re tackling a difficult subject, real life experiences, or historical content, please note the kinds of trigger or content warnings you intend to include on the post and give me an idea what kind of research you’re doing, including examples of your resources. See here on some steps to do before you make a game about stories that aren’t yours.
I can refuse any article for any reason, and pay $100.00 USD flat payment (paid when I get the Patreon payment at the start of the following month). Any articles accepted are edited by me, a minimum of one full editorial pass.
Conventions & Events
I happily attend conventions that have codes of conduct as a funded guest. I’m located in Pittsburgh, but willing to travel worldwide so long as there is funding for guests that covers attendance fee, hotel, and travel at least partially. I can discuss a variety of subjects including safety in games, tabletop and larp design, nonbinary & queer representation, disability in games, setting design, creating your own games from business to creative application, and leadership (I have a graduate degree in Leadership) – including Leading with Class workshops! I do require disability accommodations (seating and breaks).
If you’d like me to attend your convention or local game day, contact me through the form below and provide
- your convention’s website
- why you want me at your convention
- what you want me to do at your convention
- information on your special guest policies & funding
I would love to check out your convention! Just let me know how to make it happen and what you want me to bring to the table. 🙂
